School Board Minutes 01/02/2014
January 2, 2014
                        
                        A meeting of the Berlin Board of Education was held in the Berlin High School library beginning at 6:00 p.m. Present for the meeting were Nicole Plourde, Lynn Moore, Donald Labrecque, Kenneth Proulx, Corinne Cascadden, Bryan Lamirande, Amy Huter, Julie King, Tim Forestall, Gary Bisson, Dan Record, Roland Pinette, Cheryl Pinette, Denise Valerino, and a member of the press.

MINUTES         On a motion by Kenneth Proulx, seconded by Lynn Moore, the Board voted to approve the minutes of the December 19, 2013 meeting, public and nonpublic sessions. The motion passed unanimously.

WARRANTS                On a motion by Kenneth Proulx, seconded by Lynn Moore, the Board voted to approve the warrant dated, January 6, 2014 for the amount of $93,482.19. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.

FINANCIAL REPORT        None

COMMENTS                None

ELECTRONIC DEVICE       On a motion by Kenneth Proulx, seconded by Lynn Moore, the Board voted to approve the first reading of Policy IJ-R, Electronic Device Policy. The motion passed unanimously.
                                        
SCHOOL CALENDAR On a motion by Donald Labrecque, seconded by Lynn Moore, the Board voted to approve the 2014-2015 School Year Calendar as presented. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.

FY15 BUDGET             The administrators reviewed their rationale for budget increases. The Superintendent reviewed the budget highlights. Bryan Lamirande went over the revenues. On January 16, 2014 the Board will prepare for the public budget hearing.

COMMENTS                None

MEMBER BUSINESS The Superintendent requested Board members go to City Hall on Monday, January 20, 2014 at 6:15 p.m. to be officially sworn in for their next term.

                        Nicole Plourde raised a concern with school fundraisers. She has been made aware of customers not receiving the products they ordered and paid for, and for child safety. She is requesting that the administrators provide some suggestions. The Superintendent will discuss this issue with the Administrators at the next Administrative Council meeting.
                                                        
NON PUBLIC              On a motion by Donald Labrecque, seconded by Lynne Moore, the Board voted to go into nonpublic session at 7:35 p.m. in accordance with RSA 91-A3II, (a), (b) & (c). On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.

                        On a motion by Donald Labrecque, seconded by Kenneth Proulx, the Board voted to come out of nonpublic session at 8:03 p.m. The motion passed unanimously. No additional votes were taken in nonpublic session

STAFFING                On a motion by Lynn Moore, seconded by Kenneth Proulx, the Board voted to approve the following staffing changes:

                        Resignations:

                        Jenna Girardi – Educational Assistant – Hillside School

                        Nominations:

                        Ronald Fini – Educational Assistant – Hillside School
                        Courtney High – Key Club Advisor – Hillside School

                        The motion passed unanimously
                        All nominations are contingent on the applicant passing a background check.
                
ADJOURN         On a motion by Donald Labrecque, seconded by Lynn Moore, the Board voted to adjourn it’s meeting at 8:05 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.
